American 'keeper: A few clarifications

As I sat down to go to bed last Friday night, I realized I'd forgotten to relay a couple of things. I really missed the mark when I continuously referred to "the guys." Obviously, these players are people you've come to know and love, so I'm going back to sort out identities, and yes, that does include the spandex-clad Eddie Johnson (sorry, if it's not true EJ, but in my blog, rumor is law).

Some of the people that finished our sweltering training fully clothed include myself, Chris Konopka and the self-proclaimed "Willy Speed," whom I imagine will be known as Willy Guadarrama by the masses. But if he does take that as his nickname, in the future I'd like to be referred to as "One of the goalkeepers that is in the same fitness group as 'Willy Speed.'" I know it's kind of long, but I'm so proud to be part of Group 4 with such a speed demon. And who knows, it might not last forever. Someday, Willy may move up to Group 3. But I'll miss you, man.

Players who finished without a shirt were plentiful, so I'll just stick with some of "the guys." It was probably started by Chris Henderson, who went topless on our first day in Argentina, proclaiming that he had "waited 16 years" for the chance. Kudos Chris, you certainly deserve it. Hopefully, though, we haven't started an epidemic.

I was fortunate enough to have dinner with Konopka, AJ (Godbolt), Kurt (Morsinik), Eddie (Johnson), Aaron (Hohlbein) and (Michael) Kraus. Our party was actually supposed to be bigger, but "Willy Speed," Boris (Pardo), Z (Tsiskaridze) and (Michael) Harrington ended up at TGI Fridays - a real Argentinian treat. Oh yeah, I think EJ and Kurt pitched in to get the meat burnt to a crisp and to cease the actual flavor at the table.

I think that should clarify some of the pronouns that I was so adamant about using earlier. I'd like to thank Lance (Watson) for sharing quiet time in the computer area with me. I would also like to thank Kerry (Zavagnin) for letting me use his computer for the second portion of this blog.

But really, there is much at hand here in Argentina. There is a Winning Eleven Playstation tourney, which I hear is hotly contested by such names as Boris, AJ, Kronberg, Will and Harrington. I am not involved because I only have time for First Person Shooters such as Halo 2, which I left in the U.S. for fear of blowing up my 360 with the crazy outlets they have here. Who knows what I'd do if I could no longer play XBox?

Also, there is always a card game being played by such rounders as myself, EJ, Nick (Garcia), (Ryan) McMahen, Kurt and Davy (Arnaud). Usually, Jimmy Conrad is on his computer trying to take over the world and Kerry is having alone time. Shavar Thomas and Scott Sealy seem to really love their room and everyone else is in a hallway connecting to the internet.

Jack Jewsbury and Ryan Raybould have become fixtures in the recliner at the top of the stairs, surfing away. Anyway, they do have names and they are all a part of this great trip. We'll talk soon and thanks to all my fellow teammates for making this so enjoyable. Life's a garden -- dig it.

Ciao,
Kevin
