MLS Experience
2004: Was a key member of the Wizards in 2004 and a major reason the team captured the 2004 U.S. Open Cup and reached the MLS Cup Final. Appeared and started 28 of 30 games for KC, matching a career high with three goals and adding four assists for 10 points. All three goals were game-winners, tied for the team lead…Assumed the Captain's role, wearing the armband for final two months of the season after Tony Meola went down with an injury... Scored the game winning goal vs. SJ (9/18) to propel the Wizards into first place, then continued his impressive role in midfield during the final month of the season, playing a vital part in the Wizards back-to-back shutouts to finish out the regular season and clinch the Western Conference regular season title.
2004 Playoffs: Played every minute of the Wizards postseason and run to the MLS Cup Final. His appearance in MLS Cup 2004 vs. DC (11/14) was his third career appearance in a MLS Cup Final.
2003: Appeared in 20 matches for the Wizards, including 17 starts… Began the season as a left sided midfielder, moved to a defensive midfield role, then moved to left back before finishing the season as the Wizards central defender…Missed seven games during the year with lower back spasms… Made his return against his former team as a sub @ CHI (7/26)... Earned his starting spot back @ MET (8/13) and would go on to be named Wizards player of the game in three of the next five matches. Played center back for the first time in 2003 @ CLB (8/31) and played well enough to lock down the central defense role for the remainder of the season…Helped guide the Wizards to a five-game unbeaten streak to close out the regular season, allowing just five goals in those five games.

2002: Appeared in 22 games, making 21 starts, after returning to Kansas City prior to the 2002 season…Scored his first goal with the Wizards vs. LA (5/18)...Registered his first assist of the season vs. DC (6/15)...Came off the bench for the first time in 2002 to play the final 36 minutes vs. DAL (7/6)... Assisted on Igor Simutenkov's game-tying goal in stoppage time at Rochester in the U.S. Open Cup. The Wizards went on to win 3-2 in overtime...Missed his first match of the season @ LA (7/20) after suffering a fractured orbital bone above his left eye in the Open Cup match against Rochester (7/17). Missed four games after undergoing surgery to repair his orbital bone...Made his first start since July 13th, playing the full 90 minutes against his former team, @ CHI (8/16)...Recorded the game-winning assist in the 90th minute vs. CHI (8/31).
2002 Playoffs: Started all three playoff games for the Wizards against Los Angeles in the first round.
2001: Ended his fourth season with Chicago starting all 24 games he appeared in and gave the team an offensive presence out of the back. Registered one goal and five assists for seven points and was selected as a member of the MLS All-Star squad for the first time in his career...Recorded his lone goal of the season in the final regular season game vs. DAL (9/8), on a 40-yard rocket.
2001 Playoffs: Started in all five of Chicago's games in the MLS Cup Playoffs, playing a total of 472 minutes.
2000: Appeared in 24 matches, starting 23 and tallying 17 points on 13 assists (second-highest on the Fire) and two goals…Registered the first 3-point performance of his career at KC (3/25), tallying a goal and an assist.
2000 Playoffs: Appeared in all seven of Chicago's playoff games, including 5 starts, registering one assist…Played the first 70 minutes of MLS Cup 2000 vs. KC (10/15).
1999: Appeared in 28 games, starting 25 and registering 11 points on 3 goals and 5 assists… Scored his first MLS regular season goal in the 27th minute vs. KC (5/22), then scored again in the 75th minute. Was named to Soccer America's Team of the Week for his two-goal performance.

U.S. National Team: Called in to U.S. National Team Camp 1/24/05 in advance of the WCQ match at Trinidad 2/9/05…Made his international debut on 12/9/01, starting in the team's 1-0 loss to Korea Republic... Was named to the U.S. roster for WCQ against Costa Rica on 10/11/00 but did not dress... Before coming to the U.S., played for Colombia's youth teams.
