A talented, left-footed midfielder from Buenos Aires, Argentina…As a teenager, was touted as the "New Maradona..." Although Marinelli just turned 25 he has played in the top divisions of England, Italy, Argentina and Portugal…Played as a child for Argentinos Juniors (Argentine first division) youth teams before joining the legendary Boca Juniors (Argentine first division) youth system at the age of 14…Sold to Middlesborough of the English Premier League for £1.5 million (about $4 million) in 1999... Made his EPL and professional debut for Boro at age 17 and played 55 games over four seasons in all competitions, netting five goals... Loaned to Torino (then in Italy's Serie A) for the 2002/03 season, played 12 games... Transferred to Boca Juniors for a short stint in December 2003 for Clausura (closing) championship. Moved to Racing Club (Argentine first division) for the Apertura (Opening) 2004 championship, where he played 11 games… Returned to Torino (Serie B at the time) in January 2005, playing 16 games and scoring one goal...
